Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly Superlatives (May 8th-21st)

HERE’S THIS WEEK’S
TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:

Best One-Liner: Supernatural

“Feeerrrrggguusss.” – Rowena

3-Supernatural-Season-Eleven-Episode-Twenty-Two-SPN-S11E22-We-Happy-Few-Rowena-Ruth-Connell

The amount of disdain, disgust and hatred that she manages to put into that one drawn out name is monumental.  This woman says more in that one word than most can say in a paragraph! (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)

Most Badass Character: Game of Thrones

Danaerys

got604_4021

Danaerys goes before the Khals to have her fate determined.  She stands there and listens to their abuse and their crude plans for her. She then tells them she has a few plans of her own, like ruling the Dothraki. They say they will never go along with that.  She says no, because you’re all going to die. She proceeds to tip over all the braisiers and torches and sets the whole temple up in flames. Her stepping unscathed out of the inferno had the Dothraki on their knees – and most of the audience too. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Bad Guy/Girl of the Week: Jane the virgin

Susanna Barnett

jtv222_3108

Jane and Michael are now Mr. and Mrs. Cordero Jr. and the buoyant couple are desperate to finally, finally, consummate their relationship. (That’s right, Jane will no longer be a virgin! The show’s title will have to be changed.) Except…Michael leaves to get ice and his police partner, Susanna, makes a careless slip, revealing she’s not who she’s claimed to be. She shoots Michael and we learn Sin Rostro isn’t so dead after all. (Contributed by Terri Clark)

Shadiest Character: Jane the Virgin

Anezka

jtv222_2786

Welp, Petra’s shy, awkward twin, Anezka, has been practicing to speak like her more confident and cultured sister and now we know why. First she stabbed her with a paralytic and then she switched their hair color. Anezka is leaving her sister Petrafied, while taking her life, taking Rafael! Talk about double trouble. Best Kiss: Liv and MAddie

Maddie and Diggie

Screen Shot 2016-05-20 at 9.20.51 PM

This has been a “will they/won’t they” relationship that even rivals Ross and Rachel. In “Choose-A-Rooney” Maddie (and fans of the show) was forced to decide between Josh and Diggie. After almost giving up, Diggie is persuaded to do one last grand gesture to win Maddie back. He performs a song for Maddie, and since no one can resist Ryan McCartan’s voice, it works. Josh is totally cool about it, Diggie and Maddie finally kiss and literal fireworks go off. Hopefully they can go the distance this time. (Contributed by Danielle Ortiz)

Best Dressed: Liv and Maddie

Parker Rooney

parkerrooney

At the wedding of Johnny and Gemma, Parker and Joey Rooney know what’s important – the food. So, we once again are treated to a Dr. P invention: a suit that the boys can use to sneak and store food from the buffet. As the boys add one shrimp to their plate, they add ten to a suit pocket. It’s capable of holding both cold and warm food, and is an absolute necessity in real life. Though they hit a rough patch at the end when Joey punctures the breast pocket, it’s the most stylish and functional suit I’ve ever seen at a wedding. (Contributed by Danielle Ortiz)

Biggest OTP Moment: The 100

Clarke and Lexa  – “Our fight isn’t over.” – Lexa

01

Biggest OTP Moment usually comes in the form of a kiss or a hug or something of that nature, and this line may not seem like much, but it holds so much meaning.  It’s simple, but so important.  “Yu gonplei ste odon.”  My fight is over.  It’s the words that Grounders use before death.  It’s the words that Lexa said before she died.  But now it is the words that she tells Clarke in the City of Light, because they have been reunited, but they do not have the time to fully embrace.  The entire human population depends on them, and their fight isn’t over.  For now, they are both alive and in this world, and together they have the chance to save the real world, and her words send them on their final journey together.  Let’s all just thank Layne Morgan for this line.  She blessed the entire Clexa fandom with it.

Most Emotional Scene: Penny Dreadful

The creature finds his family

penny-dreadful-3-4

Some of The Creature’s previous life is returning to him and he seeks out and eventually finds his wife and son. Through a slat in the floor above them, The Creature watches his family in dire poverty – and his son dying of consumption. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Honorable Mention: Outlander (Claire admits that she blames herself for Faith’s death)

Most Heartbreaking Moment: The Family

The End

1605150700-Adam-is-Alive

The twisty family drama had Claire Warren mourning the death of her son Adam and bringing faux-son Ben back into the family. Just as peace and normalcy settle over the family the phone rings…Adam’s alive and accusing Ben of stealing his life! Too bad the aptly titled finale leaves fans heartbroken with unanswered questions because ABC cancelled the series. (Contributed by Terri Clark)

Honorary mention: Outlander (Claire miscarries and Faith is buried)

Most Heartfelt Reunion: The 100

Clarke and Lexa

02

It was short, it was tense, and it was surrounded in danger, but Clarke and Lexa’s reunion in The 100’s season three finale was one of the most heartfelt scenes ever.  Just as Clarke is put in a dire situation, Lexa swoops in wielding her swords and saves the woman that she loves, and Clarke is in disbelief.  Lexa had died, and never in her wildest dreams had Clarke ever imagined seeing her again.  Clarke and Lexa’s love literally defied death.

Most Heartwarming Moment: The Middle

Brick Heck

the-show-must-go-on-after-almost-forgetting-that-bricks-middle-school-picture-id527381176

As the quirky, quiet, third child, Brick’s often overlooked and forgotten. Now he wants to perform at his 8th grade graduation, to have his moment in the sun, and Frankie fights to make it happen. When he takes the stage she suddenly  fears what she might’ve fought for, but Brick and best friend Troy surprise everyone with their sweet duet and the family melts with wonder and pride. Shine on, Brick, shine on! (Contributed by Terri Clark)

Best Plot-twist: Penny Dreadful

The creature/John Clare knowing Vanessa

Penny-dreadful-Good-and-Evil-Braided-Be-3x03-promotional-picture-penny-dreadful-39567233-3600-2400

Vanessa is recalling her days in the asylum under hypnosis with Dr. Seward. Vanessa remembers the orderly who brought her food. She looks up into his face as the camera pans up from her perspective – and it’s the face of The Creature – when he was alive, before Victor got to him. I had to watch that twice, to make sure I wasn’t seeing things! Now it leaves us with the question, was Vanessa the one who originally killed him? (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Most Shocking: Penny Dreadful

The blood orgy

Penny-Dreadful-S3E03-Billie-Piper-Reeve-Carney-Jessica-Barden-300x199

Dorian and Lily are on a mission of vengeance, taking on those who abuse and violate women and the weak – their methods, however, are gruesome and grotesque. They present the young prostitute they rescued with the man who first abused her. She butchers him; she, Lily and Dorian bathe in his blood then have an orgy in blood drenched sheets. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Most Suspenseful: Fear The Walking Dead

Chris….in all of “Sicut Cervus”

fear-the-walking-dead-episode-206-alicia-debnam-carey-3-935

Chris is quickly spiraling out of control.  He is losing himself in this new world and his grief.  He stood by and watched as Madison was attacked by the infected, threatened Alicia, and then snuck into Madison and Alicia’s room and grabbed a knife.  He is a now a character where you can’t predict his next move.  Was he really going to kill Madison, or did he have other intentions?

Performer of the Week: Penny Dreadful

Rory Kinnear,  The creature

the-creature

Kinnear’s performance has never been less than stellar, but this week we got to see The Creature’s many faces – terrifying creature, broken-hearted father, and as a living, considerate orderly.  Kinnear generates all the feels and goes well beyond and “Frankenstein’s  monster “ we’ve ever seen before.

That’s it for this week! Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments and let us know if we missed anything or if there are any categories you would like us to add! We will see you next week with more Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly TV Superlative Awards!
