HBO Announces July Premieres!

HBO announced the July premieres of two brand new series and the return of a favorite for a second season.

Premiering on Sunday, July 10 from 9:00 – 10:30 ET/PT is The Night Of.  This eight-part limited series follows a complex New York City murder case rife with cultural and political intricacies. John Turturro and Riz Ahmed star in this series which examines the police investigation, the legal proceedings, the criminal justice system and the hopelessness that pervades Riker’s Island where the accused await trial for felony crimes.  Created by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price, the series is directed by Zaillian from teleplays written by the creators.  Tune in on subsequent Sundays at the same time for weekly one hour glimpses into how Lady Justice works in the United States.

Ballers will start its sophomore season on July 17 at 10:00 pm ET/PT.  Ballers follows Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson) a retired superstar who is trying to reinvent himself as a financial manager for current players.  The show is based in Miami and will run for ten-episodes and also features Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon and Arielle Kebble.  Ballers was created by Stephen Levinson and is executive produced by Levinson, Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Peter Berg, Evan Reilly, Rob Weiss, Julian Farino and Denis Biggs.

Immediately following Ballers at 10:00 ET/PT on July 17, Vice Principals will kick off its nine-episode season.  This dark comedy series revolves around a high school and the two people who almost run it.  Created by Danny McBride and Jody Hill the series stars McBride and Walton Goggins as the two vice principals who are in an epic power struggle for the top spot.  The series is executive produced by Danny McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Lang.  McBride and Hill also created “Eastbound & Down”.

HBO will be heating up Sunday nights this summer and you will want to make sure you have a front row seat.
