Talk Nerdy With Us Weekly Superlatives (April 3rd-9th)

Hello there, wonderful nerds! Wow, what a crazy couple of weeks this has been in television! Daring plot twists and shocking character deaths EVERYWHERE. All of these great (and sometimes a little too heartbreaking) hours of television have given us quite a lot to work with for our superlatives. So, without further ado, here’s this week’s Superlatives:

TALK NERDY WITH US WEEKLY TV SUPERLATIVE AWARDS:

Best One-Liner: Blindspot

“Now throw me around like a rag doll before the Thai food gets here” – Allison

1

Weller and Allison are discussing their future and how Weller is known to screw things up when they’re going well. So Allison decides to spice things up a bit. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

Most Badass Character: Daredevil

The Punisher – Frank Castle

maxresdefault

Who else can take out three gangs causing massive loss of life without breaking a sweat?  He very carefully takes out his victims while leaving the innocent alone. He single-handedly holds Daredevil captive. The guy defines badass. (Contributed by Debbi Bachman)

Most Lovable Character:  The 100

Jasper jordan

Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 4.45.37 AM

Jasper Jordan has been at the center of The 100 since its pilot episode. Getting speared through the chest in the pilot to having living through the trauma of his girlfriend and friends dying a horrible, radioactive death, Jasper has been through a lot. While a lot of fans have complained about the character’s reckless attitude and actions this season so far, it is very obvious that Jasper is dealing with a lot of PTSD from all of his experiences on the ground. He was, after all, only 15 years old when they first landed on Earth. So, it was exceptionally heartwarming to see him fight through his own mental and emotional struggles to be a frontrunner in helping Raven try to defeat Alie. Jasper put all of his own pain and issues aside to focus solely on Raven, and even risked his own life in trying to help her. When everything else failed, he drugged the Alie-controlled Raven to take her away from Arkadia and its zombified residents, promising her that they will find a way to save her. Jasper was without a doubt one of the biggest MVPs of this week’s episode and most definitely the most lovable character as he fought for his friend’s agency while dealing with so much of his own pain.

Biggest Jerk: Shadowhunters

Maryse Lightwood

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 9.35.14 AM

After Alec publicly declared himself last week as a dude that would like to take up kissing Magnus Bane on the regular, Momma Lightwood was not happy. Not only was she fully intent on ignoring her son, but she firmly stated his actions had brought embarrassment to the family and that Magnus Bane and his ‘Lothario’ reputation, as Robert interjected, was not suitable for him. Let’s just forget that the Lightwood name is in trouble because of something her and her husband did twenty years ago, yes. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Honorable Mention: Outlander (Comte St. Germain)

Bad Guy/Girl of the Week: The Walking Dead

Negan

4

He has a bat wrapped in barbwire, need I say more?  In case I do, he is so fond of his killing buddy that he has named her Lucille.  After taunting the Alexandrians for the better half of the season, Negan finally made his grand appearance in the season six finale.  He has our favorite characters on their knees in a line, pointing Lucille at them as he recites eeny, meeny, miny, moe in order to decide who to kill.

Shadiest Character:  Shadowhunters

Camille Belcourt

12

Everyone treated Raphael like the bad guy for denying access to the coffin Camille was locked in, but perhaps he was onto something? Because as soon as she got out, she wasted no time bending everyone to her will in order to save her own skin. Not only did she manipulate Team Shadowhunter into escorting her to freedom, but she coerced poor Simon to sign a legally binding document that absolved her of Clave punishment for her part in his death. Not to mention she forced herself where she was least wanted – between Magnus and Alec. Shady is an understatement. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Best Kiss: Outlander

Claire and Jamie

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 9.06.29 AM

Claire and Jamie Fraser have a love that literally transcends time and space, as the season two premiere clearly shows. While this episode was a whirlpool of emotions, there were some moments that gave us a rock to cling to–among these being the tender kiss that Jamie and Claire share in the aftermath of the smallpox scare. Full of affection, trust and support, that kiss exemplifies how much these two have grown to be true partners in love and life. It’s not just that they are husband and wife; they are also teammates committed to a common cause as well as each other. Plus, it was hot as hell! But that shouldn’t surprise anyone 😉 (Contributed by Jackie Bojarski)

Best Dressed: the I ♡Radio Awards

Brent Smith of Shinedown

Brent was freshly groomed, no scruff, in a pair of tight jeans, a stylish Wonder Woman t-shirt, with a sleeveless leather vest over it. Very heavy metal chic. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Most Swoon-Worthy Scene: Stitchers

Camsten have “The talk”

maxresdefault

Cameron begins with “Kirsten, you know how I feel about you…” and the two proceed to have one of the most mature relationship talks in television. Both deciding that it’s not the right time to move forward on anything serious because Kirsten is still trying to figure out her feelings. The sweetness, understanding, and clarity between the two definitely made us swoon. (Contributed by Allie Lanning)

Biggest OTP Moment: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

FitzSimmons

5

Daisy has a vision of the future in which Fitz and Simmons–who fans have shipped from day one–are holding hands in the snow. While standing outside a burning building, ash begins to fall on the two. Fitz says, “It’s not snow…” and Simmons says, “I think we’re supposed to hold hands now.” (Contributed by AJ Mullican)

Most Emotional Scene: Outlander

Claire tells Frank where she’s been and that she’s pregnant

ae9bb9a3392b466dc6c15786b450096d

Fans of Outlander have been wondering if Claire would ever see Frank again. If so, what would their reunion look like? The season 2 premiere answered that question. Their reunion was heartbreakingly emotional. It was filled with joy, sadness, heartbreak, wonder, confusion and anger. After a week of researching the fatalities during the Battle of Culloden, Claire finally tells Frank where she’s been the past two years. Obviously the conversation was a difficult one. Claire realizes how ridiculous/magical her story seems and Frank struggles with accepting it as the truth. The hardest thing for Frank to hear/accept is that Claire is now pregnant, with Jamie’s child. The performances by Caitriona and Tobias were exceptional. There wasn’t a dry eye on the screen or in my household.

Honorable Mention: Arrow (Laurel Lance’s death)

Most Heartbreaking Moment: Once Upon A Time

Zelena and her baby

6

When Zelena realizes that she hurt her baby with magic, and that Hades wants the child, she decides in a tearful farewell only a loving mother can give to hand the baby over to Robin and Regina for safe keeping. (Arlene Allen)

Most Heartfelt Reunion: Shadowhunters

Clary and Luke reunite with a newly woken Jocelyn

13

Despite the tense hour, Clary and team got what they were after – the Book of the White. Magnus released the coma-spell on Jocelyn and Luke caught her in his arms as she woke up and hugged his woken lady-love, relieved to have her back. After that it was Clary’s turn to hug it out with her mom, and after everything she’s been through this season, and having just lost Jace to Valentine, damn did she need it. Most Heartwarming Moment: Empire

Jamal And Hakeem Write a Song for Andre

Screen Shot 2016-04-09 at 8.14.14 PM

After Rhonda lost the baby, Andre has been struggling with his mental health. To show their support and love, his brothers write a song and perform it for him. Talk about an emotional moment. (Contributed by Allie Warner)

Funniest Scene: Shadowhunters

Magnus tries to dig himself out of a hole

14

Getting vamp-handled into an unwanted kiss by Camille – and getting caught by the Lightwood siblings – had Magnus awkwardly trying to explain to his new man and his new man’s sister that there was legitimate reason for Camille’s presence (and that she was nine kinds of crazy). The kiss itself was far from funny, but with Isabelle’s unamused comment on their compromising position, Magnus’ silent look of ‘not helping!’ was hilarious. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Best Buddy Moment: The Vampire Diaries

Damon driving to save Stefan

17

After being freed from the Phoenix stone, Stefan finds himself stuck in Marty’s (an alcoholic human) body. With his life in danger, due to the cold weather, Damon comes to the rescue and proves that he IS there for his brother. After finding out Stefan’s location at the police department, Damon gets in a car and tries to find Stefan/Marty. Damon manages to call Stefan and after convincing him to move (Damon: “are you mad? Stefan: Yes. Damon: Do you resent me? Stefan: Yes. Damon: Good. Then get up and come kick my ass yourself”) and not freeze to death, he gets to be the hero. These two have had their shares of ups and downs, but this scene showed how much they’ve grown and how much they do care about each other.

Best Action Scene: Shadowhunters

Jace and Hodge

15

After tracking down Hodge, Jace proceeded to lay a round of smackdown on his trainer-turned-traitor, first with a lightsaber-esque double-ended seraph blade, then with the brute force of his fists and his daddy issues. He got so wild that he actually sliced Hodge’s hand off and had to be tackled to the ground by Alec in order to be stopped. Hodge gloated earlier that he’d taught Jace everything he knew about combat – bet he’s wishing he’d kept his mouth shut now. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Best Plot-twist: Once Upon A Time

Belle Goes to Underbrooke

8-1

Oops. Rumple’s spell caught more than he bargained for, and Belle is ducked into Underbrooke along with Zelena and her baby. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Weirdest Moment: Shadowhunters

Climon vibes have begun

17

Simon’s been nursing his one-sided love for Clary all season, except now with Jace being revealed as her brother and off with Valentine doing god knows what, the odds are turning in Simon’s favor. The confused look on Clary’s face after their serious exchange of I love you’s seemed like Simon may actually be in with a teeny tiny chance. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Cutest Moment: Shadowhunters

Magnus and Alec make plans

16

Alec was a little down following his run in with his parents and the crushing reality of his decision to finally own himself, so Magnus tried to cheer him up by being the patient, understanding guy he is and suggesting the two of them start with baby steps – like their first date. The promise of plans finally gave Alec something to smile about. (Contributed by Sam Pedley)

Most Shocking: The 100
Johntari Rape Scene

9

Ok honestly at this point nothing on the show is too shocking, but this was something I wasn’t sure the show would do. Ontari has Murphy chained in the Commander’s quarters and then takes off her clothes. Surprisingly, Murphy looks away (is he a gentleman now?) until Ontari starts pulling his chain (not a euphemism) towards her so she can pull his chain (THAT was a euphemism). He all but says he has a girlfriend and she can tell that he does. But she continues. (Contributed by Jenni Bradley)

Honorable Mention: Grey’s Anatomy (April serves Jackson with a restraining order)

Most Suspenseful:The Walking Dead

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 10.23.42 AM

Nobody likes having their favorite character’s life put in jeopardy, but The Walking Dead put the lives of multiple characters in jeopardy in “Last Day on Earth.”  After giving a not so heartwarming speech about the way that the new world works and how he is in charge, Negan continued to enforce his laws by stating that one of our main group needs to die by his bat Lucille.  His way to choose his victim?  Eeny, meeny, miney, moe.  Whoever he lands on is the one to die.  It’s too bad that the suspense is ongoing and will continue to be ongoing until season 7 starts in October.  Who died?!

Most Terrifying Scene: The 100

Alie Controls Raven

18

After discovering that taking the chip to enter the City of Light actually takes away more than just pain, Raven tries everything in her power to block Alie out.  Her attempts are fruitless, though, and Alie begins to bombard Raven with all of the memories that she had forgotten until Raven finally surrenders to Alie, giving the A.I. full control.

Performer of the Week: iZombie

Rose McIver

izombie21280jpg-dfed39_1280w

Week after week, Rose McIver not only plays zombie Liv Moore with panache,  but all of the other “characters” she becomes from the brains she eats. She’s been an emo teenager, a country music singer, a magician, a writer of erotica.  This week she played a hyper organized overachiever,  similar to how she was before she became a zombie. No matter what, McIver never misses a beat, which makes iZombie one of the best shows on the CW. (Contributed by Arlene Allen)

Honorable Mention: The 100 (Lindsey Morgan – Raven Reyes), Outlander (Tobias Menzies – Frank/Jack Randall)
