‘The Vampire Diaries’ has been on for seven seasons and has faced their fair share of issues. Between actors leaving, shocking deaths, and crazy story lines this show has really put its audience through a loop.
Fans will be the first to tell you that the Salvatore brothers (played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley) have literally been fighting for their lives or their friends lives for years. Now they have a new problem, the Phoenix Stone. We saw its power before the mid-season finale, but we have yet to see its true power. What will happen for Damon being stuck inside the stone that holds vampire souls and replays all of the bad things they have done on repeat? Will it drive him crazy or will he be able to face it?
According to Entertainment Weekly, we are going to find out. The network has decided to do: A concept episode. “We’ve never really done anything like it in that it is very focused on Damon,” executive producer Caroline Dries tells EW of “Hell Is Other People.” “I think he’s in every single scene. Maybe not every single scene but a lot of scenes.”
The article continues to state that Somerhalder will really push the envelope with this episode and his character showing him back in his Civil War-era. “The episode plunges the audience head first into a not-so-typical Damon mess. It’s a grueling, frustrating, at times even a little hilarious examination of one of our favorite and most damaged characters,” Dries says. “Turns out that in the murk of Damon Salvatore’s psyche, redemption isn’t easy to find.”
Catch the return of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ on January 29 at 8pm EST on The CW.
