Molly Jackson is an up-and-coming young actress who is becoming known for her diverse roles that have, so far, ranged from voice acting on Inside Out to her latest character on psychological thriller, Circle.
When she’s not on set, Molly likes to rock climb, rescue animals, and travel the world.
When and how did you decide you wanted to be an actress?
“I’ve always loved performing since I could walk! I loved the reaction from the audience, and the applause. It just felt right.”
You’re originally from Germany. When did you come to the US and what brought you over?
“My dad is in the military, so I was born when my parents were stationed in Wurzberg, Germany. We came over to the US when I was 2 for my dad’s next assignment.”
You’ve gotten to be a part of some pretty big movies. Movies like Inside Out and Thor: The Dark World. What was that like for you?
“It was really fun! I did ADR for both of those films. The other kids I work with in the sound stages are always awesome!!”
How did you get involved in Circle? Was it a regular audition or is there some story behind it?
“It was a regular audition, but I did get to read the script beforehand. The story really intrigued me!”
This is a very grown up movie with very grown up themes. How did your parents feel about you being involved in it?
“My parents feed off of whatever energy I’m showing. I was REALLY excited, so they were REALLY excited for me, and knew I could handle it! My mom told me after I was done shooting though, that it made her “mom instincts” come out when I cried. So they were a bit nervous too.”
The premise for the movie is really interesting. A group of 50 people who are more or less left to decide who among them is going to live and who is going to die. What would you do if you were put in that situation in real life?
“If this was real life I would be terrified! I would probably act very similarly to my character. Except I would cry the whole time, which would lead to passing out, then I’d fall out of my circle, and die. So let’s just hope Circle never really happens.”
Circle is streaming worldlwide on Netflix NOW.
