TV Land announces the pick up of a new original series, Lopez, starring and executive produced by the stand-up comedian and actor George Lopez. The half-hour comedy is ordered for 12 episodes and slated for a 2016 premiere date. The show is set to focus on America’s most successful Hispanic American comedian. The series will explore how George struggles between his two worlds and his dilemmas that are usually caused by himself.
John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky (Silicon Valley, King of the Hill) will write and executive produce the series. Joining them is Michael Rotenberg of 3 Arts Entertainment and Troy Miller.
“We are excited to produce a series around iconic comedian George Lopez that reveals him in a hilarious, yet brutally honest way” says Keith Cox, Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming. “George is constantly reinventing himself and as TV Land continues its evolution, we can’t wait to tell his story from a fresh, innovative perspective.”
