Happy Tuesday everyone! Last week we featured the amazing transmedia and web series work that VervegirlTV has been doing and today we get to delve further into the transmedia works of Pemberley Digital and Cherrydale Productions.
Pemberley Digital is an innovative web video production company that specializes in bringing to life class works to new media platforms, one of their most notable works being, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s literary masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice. Like most web series, the series was shot in vlog format, following the lead characters. Why is this so important? The Lizzie Bennet Diaries was the first YouTube series to win a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media-Original Interactive Program in 2013, taking web series to a new level.
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries had a full team dedicated to their transmedia mediums. Characters had interactive Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Lookbook and Pinterest accounts. These medias gave audiences the opportunity to interact with their favorite characters and get a glimpse into their lives outside of weekly episodes, providing a new way to experience the series.
Pemberley Digital also distributes, The March Family Letters, a modern adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s, Little Women, produced by Cherrydale Productions.
The series follows the March sisters as they record the happenings of their lives while their mother is deployed overseas. Encouraging and sometimes coercing the sisters to document their lives is Jo with Amy trailing behind her. Sisters Meg and Beth are bit resistant at first but once the dramas of their lives begin to unfold, they are more than willing to contribute.
In addition to the vlog style format, viewers can follow the March sisters and their friends via Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram!
You can catch the entire series on YouTube now as well as behind-the-scenes footage on the official The March Family Letters channel.
